The Helles Memorial stands on the tip of the Gallipoli Peninsula. It takes the form of an obelisk over 30 metres high that can be seen by ships passing through the Dardanelles.
Historical Information: The Helles Memorial bears over 20,000 names and is both the memorial to the Gallipoli campaign and to men who fell in that campaign and whose graves are unknown or who were lost or buried at sea in Gallipoli waters (other than Australian, New Zealanders and Newfoundlander s who are named on other memorials). Inscribed on it are the names of all the ships that took part in the campaign and the titles of the army formations and units which served on the Peninsula.

Location: Ste. Catherine and St. Nicolas are villages and districts in the Department of the Pas-de-Calais and adjoining the city of Arras on the north side. Ste. Catherine lying to the west, and St. Nicolas to the east of the N37 road to La Targette and Souchez. St. Nicolas British Cemetery lies along a footpath to the south of the Rue D'Enfer, which joins the road to Roclincourt.
Historical Information: From March, 1916, to the Armistice the village of St. Nicolas was in British occupation, and during the greater part of that time it was within the range of German artillery fire. The Cemetery was made and used by the British Divisions and Field Ambulances stationed on that side of Arras. St Nicolas British Cemetery was started a year later, in March, 1917, and it was used until October, 1918. There are now over 350, 1914-18 war casualties commemorated in this site. Two memorial crosses were erected, one to an Officer and 13 men of the 9th Seaforth Highlanders (Pioneers) killed in action on the 6th June, 1917, and one to3 Officers and 14 men of the 2nd Essex Regiment, who fell in a raid on the enemy lines on the 9th August, 1917. The Cemetery covers an area of1,207 square metres.
