The Liberal Triennial (1820-23), a revolutionary Spanish parliament ended in disaster for the Deputies for all were proscribed in 1823 by King Ferdinand VII. Lorenzo Tadeo fled to England accompanied by his brothers, Joaquin and Jaime and his two sons, Jose and Fernando. They established themselves in London in the Spanish Quarter of Somers Town. In 1834,following the death of King Ferdinand, Spain declared an Amnesty and all the exiled Deputies were invited to return to Spain. Lorenzo Tadeo returned probably with Jose, while Fernando moved to Birmingham, England and became Spanish Vice-Consul. Many of Fernando's descendents, still live in the Birmingham area to this day.
