The son of the Rev. E. A. Meryweather, Rector of Langenhoe, Essex. As an Army Captain during the War he served for a period with the Control Commission in Germany.
He married Miss Mary Hamilton, who was well known in Colchester as a teacher of languages. After his war service, in Germany, he took up Farming at Halesworth in the County of Suffolk. Since then he went back into the Army, and was engaged as a security officer on the Gold Coast,on rubber plantations.

I was most interested to see the will of John Merryweather who died 1810 Waddington as it is witnessed by one of my ancestors William Chapman. Do you have the original? Would you please email it to me or I could email specimen signatures for you to match it to as there were 3 William Chapmans in 1810 Waddington, father, son & grandson. They were farmers/carpenters.
