On 1851 and 1861 Census he was in Bedale with his parents. From 1871 to
1901 he and Mary Ann Shotton lived at 5 Roberts Street, Bradford. Their
daughter Adelina was born there, and married from there, and we have all
of her certificates. She was my husband’s grandmother.
Registration District Stockton, marriage solemnized at the Parish Church,
Middlesbrough in the County of Yorks.
The groom is given as William Merryweather of full age, Bachelor,
Occupation Joiner father Christopher Merryweather, Occupation Joiner.
The bride is given as Mary Ann Shotton of full age spinster father George
Shotton, Occupation, Trimmer.
Both were residents of Middlesbrough but no addresses given. Their older
4 children were born in Middlesbrough, the other 3 in Bradford
The Shotton’s lived in Middlesbrough where Mary Ann was born, I have her
birth certificate. The Shotton’s originally came from Northumberland and
Durham.
