This is possibly the Eustace Merryweathers,From Sandy,Bedfordshire
laborer working for the parish. that gave evidence in the Covering Dates:
1830 Bedfordshire Quarter Sessions Ref 357.
His and another man's spades were stolen at dinnertime. He was made to
buy another, which he marked and gave to the parish. Two months later he
saw Wm. Daniel and Hen. Bluett "digging on the parish account".
Recognized Daniel's spade which Daniel denied belonged to the parish,
saying he had "swapped" his spade for this from Bluett, who said he
purchased the spade from Powers. Later hearing that Daniel had sold the
spade to Bywaters of Girtford he told Mr. Bunting (overseer), who
accompanied him to Bywaters house where they found the spade.
