My grandfather was born in 1820; he was the son of Henry Alworth
Merewether, D.C.L. of Calne. He went out to Australia as soon as he came
down from Oxford, as A.D.C. and private secretary to Sir George Gibbs:
and later settled there, Orbit. 1893. My grandfather had six sons, and
most of them produced a boy or two. I was born in 1903; My father being
second son of (E. C. Henry Alfred Mitchell). My father was born in 1860,
Orbit. 1916. My elder brother went to Osborne, and after service in the
1914-18 war, retired and settled in South Africa, he has two sons, both
of whom are in England. I came over from Australia in 1928 and somehow
settled here. ( I.e. came back to England)
