3) Merryweather, Horatio (b. 31 Aug 1800, Yorkshire)
- at issue: death date of Horatio
(www.mark23.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/BARRET/WHITAKER,MERRYWEATHER.htm) has
following:
6. HORATIO MERRYWEATHER was born August 31, 1800 in Burley in Wharfedale,
and died September 9, 1885 in Springfield Michigan USA.
4) Unlinked, but probably related, Merryweather women found in US
Michigan censuses at issue: the 1860, 1870, 1880 US censuses for Pontiac,
Oakland County, Michigan show a household of several (possible sisters)
Merryweather women. Due to their very close proximity to Myrtilla and
Horatio
Merryweather households, it seems likely they are related. However, I
cannot, with certainty, match them to Merryweathers on the Merryweather
website. Also, their reported ages give very inconsistent birthyears.
- Eliza: 1870 & 1880 censuses. no known counterpart.
- Lucy: 1860, 1870, 1880, & 1900 censuses. no known counterpart.
- Juliette: 1860 & 1880 censuses. Could she be Juliet, daughter of
unlinked George & Mary (?) Merryweather of Berkshire?
- Laura: 1860 & 1870 censuses. Could she be Laura, the daughter of
George & Mary (Whitaker) Merryweather?
- Mary Ann: 1860 census. possible niece listed in household. I
believe she may be Mary Ann, daughter of Horatio and Isabella
(Clowes) Merryweather.
1860: census reference M653-556, p621, sheet 19; Merryweather
1870: M593-695, p439, sheet 18; Merriweather
1880: T9-599, p333, sheet 21; Merryweather
1900: T623-735, p216, sheet 4A; Merryweather
5) Daughters of Myrtilla (Merryweather) Barret and their husbands at
issue: uncertainty regarding possible marriage of Elizabeth Barret to Mr
Snowdon.
-- confusion arose from my finding a young female Snowden with
Elizabeth Barret and Henry Lee in 1870 census; hypothesis was possible
first marriage of Elizabeth to a Snowdon; now certain that it was
Elizabeth's sister, Emily, who married the Snowdon.
Barret UK website needing update:
