From History of Weymouth Massachusetts, USA
John was born 14 Jan 1621 at Glaston bury, England on the bank of the Taw
River in Devonshire in the same year that the Puritans sailed away from
Plymouth. When he was 10 his Father sought and found a new home near
another tidal stream, Weir River, in Hingham, Plymouth, Massachusetts,
USA Here he married in 1653 Mary JACOB Dau of Nicholas JACOB, his fathers
Neighbour, who came to America in 1633. He is buried at Meeting House
Lane in Scituate. His life was ordinary, a freeman, petit juror,
constable and served upon request the superior man of the community, the
designation to officiate in however small capacity in the enforcement of
the Pilgrim rule of policy carried with it the badge of superiority.
