One person has born Barnstable Devonshire England I also found in the
Family of Richard OATES or OTIS Born Glastonbury Somerset England Died in
Weymouth Massachusetts 31 May 1657. Says he came some weeks before Rev.
Peter HOBART and Co settled in Hingham 1636. Removed to Weymouth after
death of his first wife.

Same info as above was found in History of Scituate, by Deane. Says
earlier the name was written OATES.
One person has her dying 28 Jun 1653. In Biographical Sketches of the
Otis family John took and oath and made a freeman of the Colony Of,
Massachusetts, USA Bay 3 Mar 1635. He became a Freeman of the colony of,
Massachusetts, USA Bay 3 Mar 1635 and a Selectman in 1636. He resided on
Otis Hill On 15 Mar 1646 the house was burned to the ground, rebuilt and
he continued to live there until the death of his wife Margaret. John was
married about 1603. After his first Wife death Margaret John moved to
Weymouth where he married 1654 Elizabeth STREAME widow of John STREAME of
Hinham and Weymouth, with two children Thomas and Benjamin STREAME. John
continued at Weymouth until the time of his death 31 May 1657. John made
his will the day before his death and probated 28 Jul 1657. To his
Daughter Margaret BURTON and her three children 20S. to Dau Hannah Gile,
hushold utensils, to grandchildren Mary GILE a cow and Thomas GILE a
musket; to His daughters Anne and Alice 5S apiece; to his wife 40S; his
son John to be executor. Later in 14 Dec 1663 widow OTIS was granted in
the first divison of the STREAME estate 5 acres of ground and in the
second division 15 acres.
Of john and Margarets children, Margaret born about 1619 married Thomas
Burton of Hinham and had 5 children. She died 21 Oct 1670. Hannah married
Thomas GILE of Memaquid and had 11 or more children. Elizabeth OTIS of
Weymouth, widow, being sick and weak made her will 22 Sep 1672. She died.
She died 1676 and her will was probated 17 Jul 1676. To her son John
STREAME and 80; to her Daughter Elizabeth HOLBROOK and 15 son in law John
HOLBROOK to be executor.
