From Some notes on the Family of Merryweather of ENGLAND
Merewether of Devizes, whose daughter Jane was married to Wm HAWKINS and
the former came again on the 18th and for the last time on Monday the 19
Mar Dr. MEREWETHER enters in his Diary
19th March all glory to God. Between 5 and 6 in the morning Thomas, late
Bishop of Bath and Wells died at Longleat, Wilts. He dozed much the day
of two before he died and what little he spoke was sometimes not
coherent, which having been piled with opiates, (his power of resisting
their administration had one may assume passed away) seemed to be rather
the effect of a dream than of distemper 21 Sep 1711
Bishop Ken was present at the death of King Charles the II in his office
of Chaplain to the King.
He wrote Hymns (he being Dr. John MEREWETHER; He wrote

2. Glory to Thee my God this night
3. Behold the Master passeth by
4. her virgin eyes saw God incarnate born
The Greek Testament which was the constant companion of Ken's later
years, is now (which it does not say when this was written) in possession
of the Rev. Wyndham MEREWETHER.
