One source says he was born Glaston, Buch, England. But three others have
what I have. Richard came to New England about 1649. In may 1655 he was
admitted an inhabitant of Boston and the same year was in Dover,
Strafford, New Hampshire, USA where he received grants of land of more
than 100 acres. He was a selectman of Dover in 1660.
In 4th Generation of OTIS family Genealogy page 59. Says he married first
Rose STOUGHTON 2nd Susanna BEARD and 3rd. Grizel WARREN.
In Strafford Early Marriages says Richard, Born near 1626 killed 28 Jun

OTIS Richard (Oates) blacksmith, Dover, lawsuit 1652, juor 1659
He contracted 16 Oct 1679 to deliver pipe staves to Wm Vaugan of
Portsmouth in payment for 2 chaldrons of sea coal. Contracted with George
BROUGHTON of Berwick to deliver boards to James CHADBOURNE 1 Sep 1685.
Nicolas was slain at another battle with Indians and Richard his brother
was
wounded. Nicholas son Nicholas Jr. was carried captive to PENOBSCOT
