Parish Registers for Stroud
The parish registers start in 1624 and are headed "Register book of the
Christenings Burrialls and Marriages performed in the Chapple of Stroud
and entered from the latter end of the year of our Lord God Anno dni
1624; as followeth. The first entry was for a baptism on Feb. 27th which,
with the eclesiastical system used, was said to be at the end of the year
as the year ran from 25th March.
Inevitably there are blanks and breaks in the continuity.
Fisher notes some specific entries which are of interest or peculiar:
"John Brownen and Mary Bennat proclaimed to be married the nommannaten
was the 16th day of novenber 1655 the 2 day was the 23 november the 3
proclaimen was that of 30 november 1655"
