At age about 18 Francis drew a horse called GOLDEN MILLAR in the 1932
Irish Sweepstake, he sold half of the share to a bookmaker for a
considerable sum, and though a hot favorite it fell at Beechers Brook
second time around while in the lead. So Francis come out well the
bookmaker lost ( A very rare occurrence).
Francis later purchased two high class pet shops in West Kirby, the
Wirral were he met and married Catherine Meade. after the first two
children the returned to Ireland in 1943. And settled in Dublin in 1933
