If the James BROWNEN who served in the Civil War from IL could be the son of James and Mary BROWNEN of the 1850 Indiana census.
I doubt it because there were no children with them in the 1850 census and in this Civil War James would have been about 7 in 1850. However, since the
James BROWNING of the 1850 Hopkins Co. TX census came from IL (being born there about 1825) it's possible that these two Jame'ses were related in some way.
