Janice Kay ‘Nanny’ Camp
WEATHERFORD — Janice Camp, 62, of Weatherford, Texas, or Nanny as she was
called by most of her family, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday,
April 23, 2003. Jan was born April 1, 1941, in Merced, Calif., to Melvin
and Hester Brownen. She married Vernon Camp October 8, 1957. Jan and
Vernon were best friends for 46 years and were virtually inseparable.
Nanny’s family was her life. She took pride in her family and their
accomplishments. She devoted her life to raising her family and looking
after them. Jan was a long time resident of Odessa, Texas, and a longtime
and founding member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a Christian and
through her work with her husband and children’s ministries led countless
adults and children to Christ. She was currently a member of Victory
Baptist Church of Weatherford. Her health prevented her from attending
church as much as she would have liked in recent years, but she was a
“Prayer Warrior” and ended almost every phone conversation especially
those where problems were being discussed with “we’ll be praying for you.”
She is survived by her husband, Vernon Camp of Weatherford; daughter,
Deana Glaze and her husband, Steve, of Weatherford; son, Keith Camp and
wife, Sandy, of Odessa, Texas; grandchildren, Stephanie Glaze, her
friend, Kale Rokus, and Michael Glaze and fiancé, Jessica Rapp, of
Weatherford; sister, Pat Massey and her husband, Rex, of Odessa, Texas;
niece, Rexanne Wier; nephew, Doug Massey; many great-nieces and nephews
and her cousin and best friend, Gail Pool of Odessa, Texas.
Visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at
Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held at
Galbreaith-Pickard Funeral Chapel at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 26. The
burial will be at East Greenwood Cemetery in Weatherford, Texas.
